〈 Nirvana 〉

A word "Nirvana(death of Buddha)" is the word to see well. But most people cannot explain it.
"Nirvana" means blowing it out or the state that it is blew out or the state of the realization when you burn down the whole fire of "worldly desires" and you get all wisdom. ("New Buddhism dictionary", Seishinshobo)

Kojien (Japanese Dictionary, published by Iwanami) says,

  • "Bonno"(Kleshas, worldly passions)------All irrelevant thoughts to let the mind and body of all creatures worry
  • "Wisdom"------Action of the heart that clarifies the sole absolute truth and separates right or wrong
  • "Realization"------The State that you remove a hesitation, and acquire truth

In other words "Nirvana" is to be delivered from all hesitations, and to ascertain truth" and "Nirvana" is important thought of the Buddhism, and it is many related matters to the Buddhism.

  • "Nehan-zu(Picture of Nirvana)"------The picture when Buddha dies under the saul
  • "Nehan-zou(The statue of Nirvana)"------The statue of the death of Buddha

  • "Nehan-e(Parinirvana Day)"------It celebrates the day when the Buddha is said to have achieved Parinirvana , or complete Nirvana , upon the death of his physical body.

We live in distress, becase we live in worldly desires and hold on to the worldly desires and cannot escape from that. Anyone knows that you should not deeply attach to things to escape from "worldly desires" and it leads to "the state of Nirvana". But it is difficult.
"Nirvana" is the basic thought of Buddhism and is the aim. We should continue the effort so that we are not swung by "worldly desires".
